Creator Description

Arita Town is a renowned town in Saga Prefecture, known for Arita-yaki ceramics. The Fukusen Kiln, established in the 27th year of the Showa era (1952) by ceramic artist Kuniyuki Fukuda, is a central figure in this town. Arita porcelain boasts a 400-year history dating back to the Edo period, with its craftsmanship, techniques, and product management having matured over the centuries. Embraced by people from high-end restaurants to ordinary households, Arita porcelain has become an integral part of Japan's culinary culture.

The kiln's name, "Fukusen," meaning "abundant spring of happiness," was chosen with the hope that good fortune and happiness would overflow from the porcelain closely integrated into daily life. The Fukusen Kiln embraces the mission of conveying the passion of past ceramic artisans and the culture of Japanese cuisine. While remaining committed to traditional techniques, the kiln also values a playful spirit, consistently producing vessels cherished across generations.
