Japanese Pair Rice Bowls - Hakuji Peony Porcelain, Hand Carved by Mikihiko Yamaguchi

Sale price¥38,500
Porcelain Couple Teacups Crafted by a Master with Over 40 Years of Ceramic Expertise
Featured in Major Newspapers: These are porcelain teacups adorned with peony carvings. Every intricate carving is meticulously done by hand, and only a few teacups are completed in a single day. These creations require considerable time and effort. The transparent glaze that fills the carvings gleams like crystal. As these are teacups meant to be used every day, we hope you can thoroughly enjoy their elegant beauty.

Teacups Overflowing with Love
When illuminated, the peony carvings shine even more brightly. The radiance, as if it were releasing hidden power within, is the true value of traditional craftsmanship in porcelain peony carving. You can feel the dedicated efforts and passion put into these works by Mr. Masahiko Yamaguchi, who has been refining his craft for over 40 years. We invite you to showcase them in the light and savor the dazzling beauty of the transparent peony carvings.

Meticulous Artistry
To achieve the deep charm reminiscent of stained glass, these teacups have been meticulously shaped, even to the extent of the inscription carved into the base. Too shallow, and the light won't shine through; too much carving, and the strength won't suffice. Careful consideration was given to the angles and depths for light transmission, showcasing delicate carvings and the highest level of craftsmanship that exude beauty from every angle.

A Grip That Feels Like Second Skin
To achieve the most beautiful expression of the carvings, we have obsessed over the design. These teacups weigh only about 140 grams, providing a comfortable and agile grip. They make daily tea or coffee even more enjoyable. Being made of porcelain, they are non-absorbent and require no special care, ensuring their durability.

Perfect for Everyday Use
We use the highest-grade clay from Amakusa, fired at temperatures exceeding 1300 degrees, ensuring they do not have the earthy aroma that ceramics and earthenware might have. They are microwave and dishwasher safe, requiring no special maintenance.

Carefully Selected Premium Materials
We use carefully selected Kyushu clay for the teacups, ensuring excellent light transmission, a smooth surface like silk, and the strength needed for everyday use. Additionally, the works from the Yamaguchi kiln, fired at over 1300 degrees, are exceptionally durable and exhibit an artistic quality that goes beyond the realm of teacups.

Teacups You'll Want to Use Every Day
Arita is renowned as the birthplace of white porcelain, and Arita-yaki is renowned for this specific technique. These exquisitely smooth white porcelain peony teacups will add elegance to your table. The set includes a larger and a slightly smaller teacup, making it a popular choice for anniversaries, special occasions, wedding gifts, and milestone celebrations.

Customizable Premium Gift
These porcelain couple teacups, representing the essence of Arita-yaki with over 400 years of tradition and history, are a true work of art. The skillful craftsmanship is evident in the imposing technique names written in ink on the traditional paulownia box where the teacups are housed. You can also have your personalized message or name inscribed on the box (for an additional fee of 1,000 yen). Consider turning this unique gift into a treasured keepsake in a distinguished paulownia box."
