Shinemon Kiln Aoki-Myojo Japanese Pair Rice Bowls - Arita Ware
Space and Zen" as Felt in Arita Ware
In Arita ware, the flowing white kiln transformation that envelops the teacup from every angle creates an ambiance akin to shooting stars and comets. The tranquil, mature teacup exudes a silvery, galactic blue glow reminiscent of a serene night sky. It evokes the twinkling of distant stars and the eternal passage of time, representing a sense of calm and sophistication.
Color Palette of Premium Teacups
The luminous sparkle of a starry night, the scattered obsidian-like patterns meticulously embedded - these are the hallmark of the unique craftsmanship of "Shin'emon," who has dedicated himself to Arita ware for many years. The artistry reflects a play of contrasting colors, including glossy black, shades of blue, and a sense of luxury, achieved through the mastery of the craft.
Recipient of the Japan Fine Arts Exhibition Special Selection
Shin'emon, a master in the field of ceramics, achieved the prestigious Japan Fine Arts Exhibition Special Selection at Japan's largest art exhibition. This work is a special limited edition from JTOPIA, developed from the Yohen Yuteki Tenmoku, treasured by Oda Nobunaga and Toyotomi Hideyoshi. The "Aokiboshi" technique, meaning "Blue Star," is a highly challenging method where most pieces are discarded during each kiln firing.
Lifelong Companion Teacups
The teacups are crafted using the highest quality natural porcelain stone from Amakusa, Kyushu. Fired at a scorching temperature of 1300 degrees Celsius, Arita porcelain offers a silky touch, durability, and non-absorbency, making them easy to clean. There is no earthy aroma commonly associated with ceramics, allowing you to fully savor the fragrance of your tea. They are microwave and dishwasher safe, with excellent heat retention and cold resistance. Suitable for various occasions, regardless of age or generation.
A Lucky Gift
The "Morning Star," which is Venus, shines as the first star in the western sky after sunset. This sight, known as the "Evening Star," is a familiar one in Japan during twilight hours. In other cultures, it is also referred to as "Venus" and has long symbolized love and beauty. This symbolism arises from the brilliance and beauty of Venus when it shines so brightly. It is a popular and auspicious gift worldwide.
Exquisite Personalization
The name of the master artisan, "Shin'emon," is engraved on the base of the teacup. Additionally, each paulownia box, which we deliver, is meticulously inscribed with ink and brush, signifying both the creation by Shin'emon and a guarantee of Arita ware's quality.
