Oil-Spot Tenmoku, Reflecting the Darkness of the Universe
Oil-drop Tenmoku, which expresses "the shining black of the universe." Oil-drop Tenmoku refers to the crystalline spots and clusters that appear on the surface of the vessel, resembling drops of oil. It was cherished by feudal lords like Oda Nobunaga and Toyotomi Hideyoshi, as well as by literati, who regarded it as "a vessel reflecting the universe."

Oil-Spot Tenmoku, Admired for Its Technique and Gravitas
The Oil-drop Tenmoku tea bowl by Shinemon is known for its majestic and elegant black-golden crystalline patterns, also referred to as "Amakake Ryu-Rin" (dragon scales soaring through the sky). The technique is extremely difficult, requiring many years to perfect before the creation of the piece.

A Profound Black Color That Transcends the Cosmos
In the Song dynasty, the color of black (玄) representing the heavens (cosmos) was revered by Chinese emperors. The cosmos is a transcendent existence beyond human understanding. When a viewer sharpens their mind, the deep and profound landscape of the cosmos expands in their heart.

The Luminous Black of Shinemon That Moves the Heart
The profound and beautiful realm (深奥の美境) – as named by Shinemon. True to this term, the light of the black (玄) color in Shinemon's tea bowls gently touches the deep parts of the viewer’s heart, drawing them into a profound landscape that truly moves the soul and invites them into a mesmerizing depth.
