A masterpiece that blends 400 years of tradition with innovative artistry
We have specially acquired a masterpiece that blends 400 years of tradition with new possibilities in Arita ware, showcasing incredible craftsmanship. The bamboo forest illuminated by light symbolizes good fortune and is beautifully captured in the traditional blue-and-white technique. This work will captivate all who behold it.

Arita ware: A tradition of 400 years of history
Arita ware, which began in the Azuchi-Momoyama period under Toyotomi Hideyoshi, was developed by the Korean potter Lee Sam-pyeong, who was favored by the Nabeshima clan. This porcelain, which boasts over 400 years of history, has evolved uniquely within Japan’s ceramic tradition. One of its techniques is "sometsuke," a blue-and-white decoration on white porcelain. The first-generation Shinemon introduced a modern style while preserving this tradition, earning high praise both domestically and internationally, with his works held at the British Museum.

The world of bamboo depicted by Shinemon
This work expresses the world of bamboo created by the highly esteemed first-generation Shinemon, offering a unique world to enjoy. The vase's solid stature and gently rounded, beautiful silhouette are complemented by the intricate blue bamboo designs, which convey the life of bamboo and the dappled sunlight of nature, leaving a profound impression on the viewer.

Exceptional craftsmanship and intricate brushwork
The technology used to smoothly finish the vase's surface, ensuring the delicate blue-and-white design remains intact, is highly advanced, showcasing the skill of the artist, who became renowned as a Nihon Bijutsuin member. The fluid brushstrokes create exquisite beauty, and Shinemon himself aimed to infuse warmth into the traditional Arita sometsuke technique. His works have gained high praise abroad and are increasingly difficult to acquire. We hope you will appreciate this piece with exceptional value for collection.
